During the COVID-19 pandemic, CHREAA implemented several key initiatives to support vulnerable populations in Malawi. We advocated for the release of non-violent offenders to reduce overcrowding in prisons, which are high-risk environments for the spread of COVID-19, and provided inmates with hygiene supplies and health information. Through community outreach, CHREAA conducted awareness campaigns to educate people about COVID-19 prevention measures, distributed masks, hand sanitizers, and other essential supplies to those in need. We also launched campaigns to combat misinformation about COVID-19 and to promote the uptake of vaccines. Additionally, we offered legal support to individuals whose rights were violated during the pandemic, addressing issues such as unlawful arrests and discrimination. To ensure marginalized groups had access to healthcare services, CHREAA facilitated COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
