CHREAA HOLDS A CONSULTATION MEETING ON AGE DETERMINATION FOR CHILDREN IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW


On the 20th of October 2022, the Centre for Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance (CHREAA) and Article III held a consultation meeting at Crossroads hotel in Blantyre on age determination for children in conflict with the law. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the challenges faced by authorities during the age-determination process and how to overcome them. The outcomes of the meeting will aid to protect children who are sometimes sent to prisons rather than safety homes or reformatory centres. In participation, were members from Social Welfare, the Judiciary, the Malawi Prison Service and the Ministry of health.
