CHREAA CAMP COURT RELEASES ARRESTED MINOR

The Blantyre child justice court sitting at Blantyre Police has released on bail a 15-year-old boy, who was arrested on 1st September for indulging in consensual sexual acts with a fellow minor during a camp court that was organized by the Centre for human rights education, advice and assistance (CHREAA) with funding from the UN Voluntary fund for victims of torture.

This case comes at the time when the High Court in another case is yet to determine on whether it is unconstitutional to criminalize adolescent consensual and non-exploitative sexual relationships. The case has been pending a ruling of the supreme court since April this year on preliminary issues.
